A few weeks ago, I became an agent in a global network of social innovators. Urgent EVOKE: A Crash Course in Saving the World opened on March 3, 2010. It’s an online game, a social networking site, a cause changing effect, and an experiment all in one. It was designed and is directed by "alternate game reality master": Jane McGonigal for the World Bank Institute. 

Experiencing Evoke For The First Time:

EVOKE has been open for three weeks and already has more than 13,802 members. The game will last ten weeks, concluding on May 12, 2010, with a new quest and a new mission unlocked each week. In the first mission agents were asked to imagine their best-case scenario future by describing where they will be living and what they will be doing ten years from now. It was then asked to write about what you will do when Alchemy calls you to come to Japan to help end the famine.

In the first mission agents were asked to imagine their selves in 10 years and what situation you would be when Alchemy calls you.

The first thing I looked at was this 90-second trailer: EVOKE trailer from Alchemy on Vimeo. I thought the trailer was mysterious because there was a glowing green mask. But, I wasn't really interested in playing the game.

All About Evoke

It’s a game, a learning experience, a social network, and a way to get involved all in one. It was designed and is directed by Jane McGonigal for the World Bank Institute.

EVOKE has been open four weeks and already has more than 13,000 members. The game will last 10 weeks, concluding in May, with a new quest and a new mission unlocked each week. In the first mission agents were asked to do three missions and one quest. Learn one was about finding a secret code of innovation. Act one was about choosing a hero to shadow or follow. Imagine one was about when Alchemy calls for you in 2020 where will you be.

Recently i meet up with a fellow NYC Spinner "Jc" and to be honest he was a lot nicer than i thought he would be and he was very happy to hear that i was another spinner located in the NYC region and when i asked to attend the next NYC Spinners Gathering, he was thrilled to hear that i knew about it and was very enthusiastic about signing me up however now that i think about it these people that i will be meeting have been spinning for well over 2 years, iv been spinning for a little over 3 months, the time comparison for mastering tricks is ridiculous but i hope my ability to learn quickly will allow me to prove myself as a dedicated spinner.

Truth be told, this really has been Deron William's year. Deron made the All-Star team for the first time in his NBA career and had a marvelous showing. In Deron's first All-Star appearance ever he dropped 14 points and dished out 6 assists, pretty great for a first time All-Star. Ever since the All-Star break Deron has begun to prove his worth as one of the best point guards in the NBA, he has led the Jazz to an 11-5 record since the break and has pulled them to within 2 games of second place Denver in the Western Confrence, which could play out well for the post-season. But that is not all Deron has been doing on the court, hes been playing ball like a superstar. Deron is averaging 18.4 points and 10.3 assists per game, thats great for a point guard. Along with the production, Williams has been putting up a highlight real that is hard to compete with, full of "the killer crossover", amazing playmaker assists, and dunks that make you fly off your seat. Any given day that Deron walks on the court, you can expect a show of talent and a general display of artwork with the basketball.

The traditional sports recieve a lot of attention at Judge Memorial, just like at thousands of other high schools across the country. The student body and parent supporters show up in droves to support the football and basketball teams and other sports, and rightly so. But two sports that recieve less support than all the rest are cross country and track & field, but I'm referring to cross country in particular, a sport where two Judge Memorial athletes have gone on to become elite runners in their competitive circles while much of the student body is still unaware.  

Now, it's not hard to see why little fans show up at cross country meets. It's not exactly considered a spectator sport, although to some, such as myself, cross country is definitely enjoyable to watch. But many people may think they missed out when they find out exactly who Patrick Smyth and Luke Puskedra are.
