I recently found an article regarding Twitter followers on ESPN. As a person who uses Twitter, this interested me. It talked about a famous athlete, the soccer player Kaka (midfielder for Brazil & Real Madrid)who became the first athlete to amass 10 million followers. This was surprising to me, because Kaka is not the player he used to be and definitely isn’t as popular as he has been in the past. Also the fact there are so many other athletes out there who are more popular and none of them have reached 10 million followers. The fact that an athlete could have so many followers is somewhat ridiculous. Their influence is so widespread that anything they say could be interpreted in multiple ways. Twitter seems to be gaining popularity as well as some of the athletes who use it.
