2011 Republican Primaries: A Look Back

Before the Republican Primaries, the GOP seemed to have it made. The economy was in a slump and President Obama was being blamed, they had taken back the house in the 2010 congressional elections, and President Obama ratings were at an all time low.

What happened to bring President Obama back to the top? Well for one the economy started to improve, Osama bin Laden was killed, Libya was dealt with supportively, with no loss to American lives, we got of Iraq, and OH, wait the 2011 primary showed all the candidates incapable of standing against Barack Obama.

Initially it started off great for them. The Tea Party was at a surge and thus Michele Bachmann and Rick Perry were accepted with open arms. Yet we soon realized that none of them were qualified for the jobs as they repeated one gaffe after another, and remaining quite of touch with the American populace. The primary season became a rack of clothes. We tried on one candidate to see if it fit and then threw it away after realizing it just wouldn’t do, hoping that we would have to use our last resort, Mitt Romney. However Romney persisted as he now sits as the primary challenger to President Barack Obama. Hopefully he can learn from the primaries as a misstep in public politics and take on the role of general election candidate.
