35mm Black and White Photography

I really like the value contrast of this photo.  The sharp black of the dog contrasts the white of the doorway that it is standing in.  At the same time, however, I could have gotten closer to the subject.  That would have placed more emphasis on it and it probably would have strengthened my picture.  The next time I take a portrait picture like this one, I am going to try to move closer to the subject and use a different unusual perspective to emphasize it.
