Adventures

For my English project, I'm making my sister a map of some of the adventures we've had together. Like usual, I had awful writer's block, so I was half-heartedly surfing the web. I decided to type 'adventure' into the search bar on dictionary.com, and I found out that the word "adventure" comes from a Middle English word, which when translated means "what must happen".

For some reason, this struck me. I've been avoiding the thought that most of my friends will soon be moving away and the thought that I might never see some of them again. I know this has to happen. Change has to happen. It's awfully sad, but that's what makes life an adventure.

Thanks Class of 2010!

Isabelle -

As always, your post was very well-written and a great read.  Like you, I think that I have also been avoiding the reality that most of our classmates will never see each other again or will be moving on to a new place or a new city.  The word "adventure" really does describe what I believe the next step of our lives will be.  And, it is so appropriate that the meaning of this word is "what must happen."  Our lives are always going to be transitioning and going through phases of change, good and bad, whether we like it or not.  And you're right when you say that change is "what makes life an adventure."

Thanks for your great post and for being an awesome friend!

Isabelle, Once again you

Isabelle,

Once again you manage to impress me with your deep thinking in just two paragraphs. Whenever my family goes on a vacation my dad says "This is going to be an adventure." meaning we don't have a plan and are just going to wing it. That is how on a trip to Ogden we ended up just continuing to Wedover. But I do agree that change has to happen and it's what makes life an adventure.

Thanks,

Sierra

 Dear Isabelle,  I believe

 Dear Isabelle,

I believe like you I have been avoiding the inevitable.  It's just about that time where we are all forced into a new adventure.  Some are excited and others may not be as ready.  But I also believe the definition of adventure is what must happen.  We must go out into the world and grow up a little tiny bit maybe.  At any rate we will all be taking part in a huge adventure in the next few years of our life.  And while many of us have been dying to leave Judge, like myself, it is seeming a bit harder now.  Its hard to believe that I will be leaving my friends, some for good.  I will miss everyone but in the end its time for us to go out on our own adventures.

Thanks,

Isabelle-

I really loved the simple yet profound statement you made in this post. I like that you pointed out that " Change has to happen" even when we really don't want it to. I probably won't ever forget the definition of adventure that you pointed out in this post. It definately brings more meaning to the word.

I enjoyed this post and every post of yours that I have read this year. You are a talented writer and always bring up interesting points.

Thanks!
