Always Running is the definition of an american dream
In the beginning of this chapter he talks about how chava was surrounded by 8 duds and punctured by them. He also speaks about how in his senior year he became the president of the school. He recalled a fight that happened in the school that he tried to brake up up but ended up getting his bottom lip getting cut. He recalled winning 250 dollars and a paid trip for literary contest. He also talks about how he graduated High School and went to college and bought a car. In the end of this chapter he speaks about how he tried to save a woman from getting harassed by the police but then the police arrested him and sent him to jail.
I am overjoyed by the book Always Running by Luis J Rodriguez because its amazing and good how hes focusing in doing good. An example of what i mean is on page 220 “I finally graduated from high school. Quite an achievement”. I think this is remarkable because thats something you wouldn't expect from him earlier in the chapters of this book. In addition as i read the book he starts to grow up little by little.
One of the big ideas in the book is that even the bad can turn good and succeed in life. You can see what i mean on page 222 “I began cal state LA in the fall of 1972, majoring in broadcast journalism and chicano studies. I even bought my first car, a blue bug with chrome rims and tires which struck out several inches from the side”. As you can see Rodriguez wants us to think about that even if we're in a sad position we can get better. In addition in you do the right thing you will eventually get what you want in life.
I am looking forward to reading the book because i am wondering how is he going to keep on succeeding. In addition i want to see what will happen to all of his friends in his neighborhood. What probably going to happen next in the book is that he going to find a girl and truly fall in love. Finally he might settle down and have his own family.
