American Idol is Getting Worse and Worse

My family loves watching American Idol. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, we always watch it while we have dinner together. We often have our own opinions about which performances were good and which were bad, but one thing we can all agree on is that American Idol is going downhill. What made the show so good at first is that the singers were so talented and the three judges: Randy, Simon, and Paula had such strong personalities. American Idol is losing these elements. Paula left the show, and Simon's contract with American Idol is ending after this season. There are now four judges. Simon and Randy are still there. Their comments are no longer interesting though. When I used to watch American Idol, Randy always offered a fresh perspective and Simon was always bitingly honest. Now I just make fun of Randy for always starting his critique with "Listen, yo, listen" and ending it with "I'm sending you to Hollywood 100 billion thousand hundred percent". Simon does give honest remarks, but he is no longer as harsh as he used to be. Or maybe we're all just used to him now. Ellen is a funny person, but I'm not sure what qualifies her to be a judge of music. Her background is as a talk show host. And Kara usually just says the same thing as Simon.
Another thing that makes me not like American Idol as much is that the contestants this season are not as talented and interesting as in years past. I loved watching Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood. No one from this season holds a candle to them. There also aren't any people that you love to hate or have crazy personalities. Last season, I wanted Sanjaya to be eliminated because he was not a good singer but at the same time I wanted him to stay on the show so I could see what crazy hairstyles he would come up with next.
The only reason I'm still watching this season is Andrew Garcia and Siobhan Magnus. They are both young and very talented. They don't have the potential to become as famous as any of the winners from the first seasons, but I would probably listen to their music. The other contestants are rather bland and perform similar songs week after week. Andrew and Siobhan have very unique voices, but I still don't know if they have the personalities to back them up.

You did everything correctly up until the last step.  Just remember to choose "Full HTML" from the Input menu.  Once I did that, your videos showed up.

Marissa, I enjoyed this post

Marissa,

I enjoyed this post because I have been feeling the same way about a few of the TV shows I watch. The first is America's Next Top Model. There have been so many seasons, and the show is getting more and more tacky as it goes. Tyra says the same things over and over again (and thinks she knows absolutely everything), and all of the contestants always have the same sad story. "I live on the streets" or "Yo my family ain't got nuthin. I gave up errthing to be here." And the winner is always the same type of person. Someone nerdy, awkward, or who magically rose from nothing. It's getting to be so predictable and..boring.

Another show, which I'll admit I still love, is Biggest Loser. At first the show really was about big fat people slimming down to an appropriate size. It still is about that, but every person on the show also wants to cry and try to get the world to have sympathy on them. They cry how they've never been on dates before, or how everyone always stares at them, or how they lost 3 pounds in one week (which for a 300+ pound person really is not that great). Not to mention Jillian Michaels thinks she's the most amazing trainer in the world and is now developing tredmills and diets that will help you zap off all that fat. The publicity is getting to her. Reality TV just seems to be going downhill.
