Anti Federalism

People are born with natural rights, “life, liberty, and property”. In history, Thomas Jefferson claimed to fight for people’s natural rights. Without natural rights, people lose their authority of being humans. Anti-Federalism is the only way to treat all people fairly. In our ideal government, there should not be a constitution establishing a strong central government. The power should be offer to the thirteen states. Also, the Bill of Rights is absolutely necessary. The country should be a small republic and the Articles of Confederation should be amended, not abandoned.

Anti-Federalists against the new constitution because it gives the federal government too much power and not all people are represented by it. Under the new constitution, decision making favored limiting state power. However, different states have different issues. One central, strong government can not concentrate on all affairs of all states. Consequentially, the central government will neglect the rights of people. On the other hand, only powerful people can bring up opinions about the government or other affairs. The new constitution only benefits wealthy, powerful men; however, it ignores the rights of the majority in poverty. Only strong supported power and sympathetic of states can concern on local affairs meticulously. Moreover, it is the only way to protect people from damaging their natural rights.

In the new constitution, there is NO Bill of Rights. It means there is NO protection on people’s life, liberty and property. In the American Revolution, Thomas Jefferson fought for people’s natural rights and states’ power by referring to the 10th amendment of the newly formed constitution. It is not easy for us to secure our fundamental rights; however, if the new constitution was adopted, we would not get back our rights so easily. The government will neglect people’s rights and abuse the power after getting back to a strong, central government. When the government is too strong, it could become a monarchy. Under a monarchic government, there is no right of people. Finally, it turns back to a cycle. People are not satisfied with the extant government and they hold revolutions to gain back their rights. There will be no improvement but regression in our society. It is meaningless to know that we are going to have the same outcome but still doing it. The only way to protect our society, government, and natural rights is not to adopt the new constitution.

Anti-Federalism is the right choice for people who still want their life, liberty and property. People are born with their natural rights and no one can take away from them. We should avoid to have a government which neglecting our individual rights, ignoring to treat everyone by fairness and equality. We should against the federalists by not approving the new constitution.
