Asian Garden
One day in English class, Mr. Allison took us on a trip, not to far away. In fact, it was right across the street. The Korean Gardens. We went there to observe, what is taking place at the garden, and what already took place. There were a few workers there and they were kind enough, to let us in and take photos of the beautiful work they have done.
Some of them, were so kind that they let us take photos of them, while they worked. It was nice that they took time out of there work, and let us interview them. There were plenty of videos that some of the kids took, and they had quotes that really stuck out to me.
"People here in flushing work hard"
Hearing this quote just made me realize, that people in flushing really do work hard, to make our community better. These people plant these flowers to make our place look better. Another thing that was amazing, is these people were seniors. I could not believe these people were working so hard and they were so old. Most seniors their age, usually are too weak to work.
Another quote that stuck out to me from the park was said by, a man that apparently owns the garden..
"This is my Garden"
Seeing this quote again, I see how this man is proud of his work. It opens my eyes because this quote is saying that he started this project and he has pride for what it has become. He said it with such passion, and I could tell he was really proud, and happy. If I were in his shoes I would be too. Now keeping in mind, do you agree me?
Another quote that surprised me was something that same man said. This surprised me because, of much stuff he planted, and how he remembers it. It really shows that if you believe in something, you will do it.
"I come here everyday and pick the stuff. Peppers, tomatoes, etc. I planted all this."
In the end, I thought this garden was remarkable, due to the variety of stuff, and the hard work of the seniors. It gave housing to bee's and other insects. There was never a "I saw this before moment" for me. I would like to go there again, and fully explore this marvelous work of the seniors.
