Automatic vs Manual Cars: The Story of my Search
The story of the search about whether automatic or manual cars are better began with me reminiscing about traveling the world. There are many culture distinctions and other gaps that countries have with one another and in this case it is cars. If an individual decides to live in a foreign land in would only make sense for him or her to learn the standards and practices of that particular country. People are all about habits, and living in America we have the habit of driving automatic cars. While this comes as no problem to Americans at home it puts us at a disadvantage worldwide. The entire world practically uses manual cars and if an American wants to travel overseas and rent a car he or she will be dumbfounded when the car is not an automatic.
In order to intelligently write about this subject, I searched the internet for informative sites, which I found. In addition, I also asked my brother a few things who happens to be a major car buff. What I found is exhibited in my previous post about this vary subject. In regard to myself, I intend to learn how to drive a manual transmission so that I may be more adapted to what the rest of the world uses. However, I still do not know if I would ever own a manual living in America.

I like this little story of
I like this little story of yours, but when i was younger i also would think this to but i learned from the older heads before me that if u drive a manual aka ( stick ) car u would have more control of the car then you would with a automatic. One of the parts i liked in your story was when you said "The entire world practically uses manual cars and if an American wants to travel overseas and rent a car he or she will be dumbfounded when the car is not an automatic" i thought it was funny but its true they would be dumbfounded because where I'm from ( Jamaica ) people are growing up first learning how to drive stick, that's not the crazy part about it. The crazy part about it is that they learn by driving on a hill. The hills in Jamaica are deep
Manual for the track, automatic for traffic
I may only be 14 years old, but I know a lot about cars, transmissions, engines, and pretty much how it all works. I have a dirt bike that has various gears, a clutch, and a throttle, three things that your car has wether you know it or not, manual or automatic. Automatic cars were designed to be comfortable, convenient, and to be less of a hassle. Automatic cars are normally used for everyday commutes, and anything else similar to getting to point a to point b. As you probably already read, Americans are just a bout the only people who drive automatic cars, and most of the people in America don't know how to drive stick, or manual. So if you go on vacation to another country and want to rent or drive a car, you may need to think twice.
Manual may be considered old, or out of date here in the U.S. but in other countries it is the modern era, and is alway being improved upon. Manual cars are usually used for racing, motor sports, and generally has better performance than automatic cars or engines do. Manual cars give the driver more control, and more choice when it comes to changing gears for turns, up/down shifting, pulling in the clutch in the turns, and letting it out at the apex of them, it just make driving/riding more enjoyable.
I think that it is important to know how to drive stick because you never know when you would need to know it, it could be for fun, or for a job, but when it comes down to it, we (Americans) are just about the only ones that really don't use manual cars any more. On a race track, you need to know how to drive/ride a manual car or bike because that's one of the thrills of racing, the complication of the machine, and the skill you possess at driving/riding the vehicle. If you don't already know how to drive a stick shift, or ride a manual motorcycle, then I would suggest learning because the next time your friends are going to a track or something like that, and you don't know how to drive stick, you will probably either burn out the clutch trying, or just not end up getting 10 feet at the end of the day.
Dear CJ, I liked reading
Dear CJ,
I liked reading your post and in my opinion I will rather drive manual then automatic because to me it feels like you are in control of the vehicle. I know its the same with automatic and it not as much work but i feel more comfortable driving standard and I feel that everyone should know how to drive it.
A sentence i found interesting in your post was "The entire world practically uses manual cars and if an American wants to travel overseas and rent a car he or she will be dumbfounded when the car is not an automatic." Here is where i totally agree with you for example the people in japan drive manual all day and we over here wasting mad gas for no reason when you can buy a manual. Those cars cost less and are kind of Eco friendly.
I enjoyed reading your article because im a big fan of manual cars keep up the great writing hope to hear more.
