A Back-up Tokyo?
I read an article the other day about how Japan is considering building a "back-up Tokyo". Some of the members of the Japanese government are worried that much of Japan will be destroyed if Tokyo is the victim of another massive earthquake or tsunami like the one they experienced in the spring. This back-up city would allow Tokyo (the capital city of Japan) to still be fully functional even if the entirety of the original Tokyo is destroyed. The send city would not only serve as a back up for the government, but also as a back up for tourists with amenities like casinos, parks and resort facilities. I thought it was very interesting that instead of just trying to strengthen Tokyo as it is now, Japan is considering building a back-up capital city. This seems so unnecessary and ludicrous to me, and it makes me wonder if things like this will occur all around the world for countries that can afford it, or if this project will really come to completion. It could be a lot of empty promises, or it could be an entire new front of politics and city planning.

tokyo crisis
i think that they might be rebuilding another capital city of Japan because if Tokyo get destroyed again its just going to keep happening. They cant afford for it to happen more then once so they just going to build another capital. It will just be a lot of money just to keep the old one and just keep rebuilding every time the earthquake happens which means more money.
Crazy Idea of an Alternate City
I think that the whole issue is very interesting, and it shows that the Japanese government is thinking about what could happen if their country or city was ever the victim of another serious earthquake, nuclear power plant crisis, or other natural disaster. They are trying to think of a backup plan so that the country won't be as hard hit and will still be able to function after a catastrophe. I like the sentence where you mention that this plan comes instead of trying to keep rebuilding the city that already exists and that is trying to recover from the massively widespread damage that came from what already happened. I like that you consider that it could go either way, it could work or it might not, and I think that it will be interesting to see what happens, and to watch what other cities do to recover and prepare for the increase of natural disaster in the modern day.
