Bad Online Classes
When I think about computer class I get upset, angry and feel terrible. I’m not fond of it .The class it self makes me sleepy and I feel that it’s a waste of time for me. I’m not really learning and I don’t leave school with any knowledge of what I was working on in class. I think there should be an alternative for these classes. Sleeping, looking into space, watching others on there computer, looking out the window and going to the bathroom is a way I try to escape from looking into the computer screen. Computer class is a work at your own pace program, meaning the faster or slower you work is how you gain credits. Its basically using the computer rather than having a teacher stand and give instructions and require you to write on paper with a pen. I don’t think it’s to good of a program because every assignment should have dead lines, so we stay on track of how we get credits. If your a slow worker you will be in school longer than you should because you may have took to long to complete your work. This could possibly hurt some students and it’s also painful to be on a computer for two periods straight.
One thing that’s bad about online classes is that you can mainly focus on one class and hold off from a next class and end up behind or maybe failing the class. In disadvantages of online education by Jeff Lakie, He quotes “Since you can work at your own pace, some people find themselves putting the work off until they don't have enough time to finish the requirements.” This supports what im trying to explain and similar to my personal experience that I have in class. I work on French more than ill do with geometry and I find myself falling behind with work. The longer it takes me to do this class the slower ill get credits and the longer my time is in school.
Another effect of computer class harming would be your health. Being on a computer for a long time could cause muscle tension. On Penn state children’s hospital.gov the site quotes that. “Muscle tension is caused by remaining in one position for a long period of time, such as when playing a video game or sitting at a computer”. This supports what imp saying because my online classes is two periods long. So I’m on a computer from 8:45 to 10:38. That’s a long time to be on a computer and does not seem too healthy for me to be on that long every morning 5 days a week.
On a podcast I found called “ Getting an education on the internet “ by Mark Perry were he talks about a survey done about online education. He says that 70 % of people [professors] said that online education was not as good as face-to-face education. This relates to my personal experience and fellow students who rather have face to face contact in class.
In conclusion, computers are not that necessary for education. All it did for me was create confusion and past due work. The past due work can harm me and other students and I feel that the solution is to go back to traditional classes, where things were going just fine. Don’t let traditional classes go extinct

Dear
Dear Daniel,
Technology is here to help people. Not to slow them down. Like every kid I'm sure they love to play their ps3,xbow,wii or other gaming systems. People stay in that position for a long time. Doing the same thing is bad repetitively. Some people just learn different ways. Some people can absorb the information by sitting on the comptuers. That may not be you or the other people that disagree with this. Others can absorb things with sitting at one in one or the old traditional ways or teaching. For me I find it alot easier to be learning from a teacher one on one, even though it's very boring.
People need different ways to learn. It all depends on what type of learner the child or adult is. This can go down to different kinds of learning for example the person can be a visual learner, hearing learner, and etc. Learning is different for everyone.
Some people just don't like changes. Everytime facebook makes a change people would make groups complaining that they don't like change. That is just stupid. Either way they would get use to it.
Dear Daniel, I
Dear Daniel,
I have just read your post of "Bad Online Classes", and it was pretty interesting. The reason I choice your post of the many hanging around is because I was already disagreeing with your title. I had always liked computers and to me computer classes were good along with online class courses. These are the little gadgets made by humans to aid mankind.
One sentence that stuck out to me was when you quoted Jeff Lakie. He gave a pretty interesting statement but if you think about it, he is describing the kind of people who can't manage their own time yet. Managing your time is essential to everyone, especially when they enter college. Also in what he said, he stated that some of the people fall behind, than it might not be the classes fault but their own fault and slack off.
Another sentence that you said that stood out for me was when you said, "Another effect of computer class harming would be your health." I had to agree with this statement because you tend to become lazy. But 2 hours on a computer is around the average amount of time you suppose to be on the computer. The people who usually end up in the hospital are the people who play all day long, barely get up to go out side, and only get up to use the bathroom and get something to eat.
Computer classes, to many people, is going to be turned into a skill. Technology is an important tool in this world and it is the fastest way to get messages around and in many work places, they want to get things done ASAP and to do that, they need a computer and a person who know how to get it done fast on a computer. So really, computer class is just helping you develop a skill that you most likely be using later on in your life.

I really liked your post about “ bad online classes” because I understand how it feels like to be sitting in front of the computer without moving, something like i would be doing while making up homework. After reading your post i have came to the realisation that I’ll never take online courses/classes because i wouldn't want any problems occurring to me.
One sentence you wrote that stands out for me is “computers are not that necessary for education. All it did for me was create confusion and past due work” I think this is interesting because i didn't know that computers could cause such big distractions and problem for school work.If student’s get distractions they would never be able to finish there work up and get their credits.
Another sentence that i found interesting was “ I’m not really learning and I don’t leave school with any knowledge of what I was working on in class. I think there should be an alternative for these classes. Sleeping, looking into space, watching others on there computer, looking out the window and going to the bathroom is a way I try to escape from looking into the computer screen” This stood out for me because this is a big problem for student. The reason we have technology is to make human need easier and our education better, but after reading this post the need of online classes should stop since its causing many distractions and problems.
Thanks for your writing. I look forward to seeing what you write next, because i never would have guessed that technology such as computers could cause problems in our education life.
