- My issue is Gay rights
- Game being modified is monopoly
- My game is going to be based on Monopoly. The issue I chose is gay rights. So far i have the idea that I will do for my board. The spaces will be countries, or the flags that represent them. I will write “LAW” on the countries that actually allow gay marriage or any other law. If you land on it, you can buy it, and there will be a deck of cards that say how much it is. Whoever land on the law has to pay. The same concept as monopoly. For the chance deck, like monopoly, you will have the deck of cards that say “You loose 30 dollars”, “Move back 10 cards” and so on, which you will get if you land on a country that says “CHANCE”. So far this is my idea for my game.
- Requirements will be from 2-6 people. Ages will be 10 to any age.
- Constraints will be kept the same.
- Sources will be sources on monopoly rules and gay right laws.

I have been thinking how to represent the countries, states, and the places where gay marriage and gays have rights. So Ii will make the spaces on my board different places where it is allowed. I will represent them by their flag or by a specific way. I did some research on all the places where gay marriage is allowed and legal or where there are rights. Each space will have one of them, and I will also include a few states or countries that do not allow it. These will be spaces on the board that have “CHANCE”, which means to draw a chance card from that deck. I did some research on which places allow gay marriage and a few that don’t.
The following URL, is the site that has the information where it states some gay rights:

So far, I have done research to see where they allow gay rights and gay marriage. I worked on my board today, although it is not done. I made 39 spaces on the board. Yellow colored in spaces will be the CHANCE cards. So like in monopoly, you will draw a chance card from the deck if you land on any yellow spots. I researchesd the places that allow gay marriage and that have some gay rights. For my board, I wrote down the names of the place. But I seperated them. So the places that are written in blue marker, are the ones that allow some gay rights but that do not allow gay marriage. The places that are in red marker, allow gay marriage. I also made a START box. Also, just like in monopoly, I inclued a "jail", which means if you land on it, you have to wait there for 2 turns. My board isn't completely done. Of course, this is the draft of how how my final project will look. Below you will see an image of the board which I worked on today...
This
This board game seems to be very organized and is almost complete. This board game seems to relate a lot to the original Monopoly. For now, i have no cool feed back.
i though that your idea was
i though that your idea was good and that your plan to make it into a monopoly game was very creative. one thing you could work on is making the pieces more like monopoly.
I think that you have done
I think that you have done well and it is an important issue. You have progressed far but not exactly far enough. Also, I think that it is a good game. I also like the name :)

So far, i have kept on working on my board. Monopoly has to do with money. SO i made alot of money cards. I also made some chance cards, and the cards for the laws that will be bought. I also included on the law cards, the amount the law is and also the people who land on the law, will be the “protesters” so they will have to pay a fine too. So I made those 3 deck of cards, and I included new things on the board. I need a couple of more things and I will be done, including the game pieces, rule guide, and other things that will be necessary for the board. Below is a picture of the board I have worked on so far:

(FINAL PROTOTYPE)
I am finished with the prototype of my game. I have made all my necessary items and included a rule guide and how to play. My board is done as well.
GAYNOPOLY
2-4 players. Ages 11+
· HOT PINK square figures are the “houses” when you buy a law or right.
· CHANCE cards are drawn when you land on chance.
· There is money included in the game: bills are: $1 $5 $10 $20 $50 $100
· The greenish spaces on the board are the places where you can buy a law or right. The deck of cards for the place is also included.
· There are also 6 game pieces that the players can choose (one for each) which they will use to move around the board.
· There is also another deck of cards that are the cards the person picks up and tells them how many places to move. These are called the DRAW & MOVE cards.
Distribute to each player:
2 - 1 dollar bills 3 - 5 dollar bills 2 – 10 dollar bills
6 – 20 dollar bills 4 – 50 dollar bills 2 – 100 dollar bills
Ø Shuffle the CHANCE cards and the DRAW&MOVE cards before you start. Whenever these cards finish, re-shuffle them.
Ø Choose a player that will be the money keeper or “bank” which will be in charge of distributing the money, the law cards, and the ones who will be in charge of placing the “houses” on the place that someone bought already.
Ø To start the game, each player has to draw a DRAW&MOVE card, whichever one has the highest card, will move first. The one with the least will go last and so on.
Ø If you land on a CHANCE space, you have to draw a card from the CHANCE deck. You have to do what the card tells you. The “Get out of Jail card” is a card you keep so when you go in the JAIL space on the board, you can use it to get out. You can only use it once.
Ø If you land on JAIL, you have to wait 2 turns. So you cannot go for 2 turns.
Ø The greenish boxes are the places in which you can buy a law/right. You keep the card with your place on it. The bank player will have to make sure of putting the “house” when a player buys the law/right. If another player lands on a place with a “house” already on it, they have to pay the amount that it says on the law card, the players that land on it are also known as “protesters”. If you do not have enough money to buy a law/right, then you cannot buy it. If you do not have enough money to pay the owner of the law/right when you land on it, then you have to borrow from the bank and pay it back as soon as you get enough money.
Ø The other spaces (excluding CHANCE, JAIL, and places where you can buy the laws/rights) are normal spaces where you do not have to do anything.
Ø Every time a player passes the (START/STOP) space, they get 20$.
Ø If two people land on the same space, then it is okay. Nothing happens to them. They just simply stay there.
Ø The RED spaces represent where they allow gay marriage. The blue spaces represent where they allow some gay rights.
THE RICHEST PERSON WINS….. ENJOY THE GAME!
I like this. I like the lay
I like this. I like the lay out of the board and what is set up here. If I could just say, maybe take a bigger picture of this so we can see the individual pieces of it. Anyway, it is still well made and i thank you for posting this up.

Today in tech class, we tried different online photoshops. There were 5 online websites we could have gone too. I chose 2. The two that I tried out was http://Fatpaint.com/editor and also http://sumopaint.com. I tried going to Fatpaint.com/editor, but when I tried iout, it seemed too difficult to understand how to work things. It was nothing like photoshop. I tried going to Sumopaint.com, and I found that one better than all. It works like photopaint and it is very easy to use and to create things. I think I will use this for my 2nd prototype.

Today in Tech class, we worked on making our rules to print it for our game. I used the InDesign to nmake my rules. I decorated in a pattern of a rainbow, since that represents gay people. The gay flag is the rainbow flag. I also copied the rules in the document and made it look nice. I tryed to make it look professional. I will probably add some pictures in my tules to make it look better. I made it easy to understand by color coding some words. I will continue to work in the rules and hopefully print it out soon.

In tech class, I worked more on my rules for my game. Since I am done with everything, I made some more changes and added stuff on my rules. I added more color. I lso added a picure of my game board which will help the players to better understand it. I also printed out the rules. Everything came out good. I still need to print out the game board. I have all the game components, and rules, and everything else I need for my game, except for the actual game board. I will have to print out the game board then I will be done.
Mhm...Well sweetheart, this
Mhm...Well sweetheart, this idea is just...interesting. i understand where you are coming from in wanting to promote Gay rights and what have you but this idea seems different. Instead of just giving the right to buy laws you should inform the player of the differences that gays have to deal with. Like go to Iran and be stoned to death for being gay. Or the Vatican where you can not be employed or live in the city if you are gay. That is the reality. This game just seems off. BUt the concept is there.
