Recently I read pages 2-26 in Pacific Crossing, by Gary Soto and i love this book. This book is all about Japan(nihon). Since I am learning Japanese language this book teaches me a lot of stuff about Japan. it tells how the life is in Japan and religion stuff.because the characters in the book is Mexican-American they also talk in Spanish and i can learn Spanish from it.One thing I learned from book is that guests can't help their host family. It is easy for me to understand this book and learn some more Japanese and understand some Spanish.

One line from part of the book that stands out for me is: "Lincoln stayed advancing to sankyu, brown belt, in six months." I think this is important because it takes hard work and determination to move up to the next rank of belts. You cant just expect yourself to move up if you dont try and slack around. Six months is a pretty quick time to get to a brown belt so Lincoln must have put in all his time and effort into doing what he loves to do. The one thing I tell myself and other people is to never give up because if you give up you are not getting anywhere, but stuck in one place or thing all the time.

Another line that I liked was: "He wanted to learn kempo, and learn to speak some Japanese." This stood out for me because I wanted to learn kempo and stuff like judo and I did get to learn it in the school. I was really surprised that they would teach it and it taught me a lot. I also my whole life wanted to learn Japanese and I go to learn Japanese in the school as well. Japanese is really cool to learn about all the characters and everything as well. One day I want to go to Japan and learn kempo there as well. There are so many cool things about Japan.

This section of Pacific Crossing reminds me of something that happened to me. One time I wanted to learn kung fu so my mom signed me up for a kung fu class. I went everyday and I was a new student and I didn't know anything so people started laughing at me. The sensei which means teacher taught me everything and I even stayed for after practice. I just wanted to catch up with the other students and be determined and everything. I never wanted to give up or anything so if I was down I would get up on my feet again. I was a very determinate person to do anything. So I went home and practiced and practiced everyday

What's probably gonna happen next is that Lincoln and Tony will have a meting or maybe they will just see each other and have some fun in Tokyo with Mitsuo. think Tony would practice more instead of quitting or anything and be determined to learn and what he loves to do. He is probably is going to learn Japanese and be better at everything that he wants to do.

I am looking forward to reading the rest of this book because i want to find out if the title of this book make sense. I mean if they really cant be good friend if he goes back to San Fransisco.I want to know what happens next in the book and if Tony becomes a kempo master or not and if he learns Japanese. This book is really cool and I want to figure out what happens next. This book is awesome.
