I just read a Wikipedia article: The Boondocks (TV series). (2012, March 6). In Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia. Retrieved 17:32, March 6, 2012, from http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=The_Boondocks_(TV_series)&oldid=480449859

I loved this article because I think this article talked about the things I myself tried to understand about the T.V show “The Boondocks.” This article has explained to me that “The Boondocks,” has caused many controversies with many companies and actors in the entertainment industry. I also think this article has informed me about with many new information such as when the new season of the show is going to air.

One sentence from this article that stands out for me is : “ Numerous outlets predicted the show would encounter controversy prior to its November 2005 debut, due to its casual use of the word "nigga.” I think this is a well meaningful sentence because it shows many critics thought that the show will caused problems because of the word “nigga,” and it did.

I’m pretty sure this is accurate, because “ Apparently, activist Najee Ali is organizing protests against the show because of its use of the n-word.”

Another sentence that I agree with was : “Tyler Perry was reportedly infuriated by his depiction in the third season episode "Pause," first aired in June 2010.” This stood out for me because Tyler Perry is one of the most respect and funniest actors in the entertainment industry and for him to get infuriated means that the show “The Boondocks,” must have really did something inappropriate.

I double checked this fact through http://www.niftychristian.com/?p=10159, which makes me feel pretty sure that it is true.

What I learned from this article is that Boondocks maybe a funny show but it causes conflicts with other entertainers and companies. I also learned that the Boondocks will be airing another season and and there will be a lot of entertainment.

Dear Daniel,

I liked your post “Comedy or insults” because i always wondered if the things that they said on the show affected the people being spoken about. Even though the show is controversial it is very real because everything on that show are things that young people like us think on the day to day basis and that's what makes the show so funny.

One sentence you wrote that stood out to me is “ Apparently, activist Najee Ali is organizing protests against the show because of its use of the n-word.” because n-gga is a very sensitive word and topic to touch on because of the whole slavery issue in the past, so I really did expect the show to be protested again; I’m also really surprised the show is still running.

I liked your post, thanks for writing it. however; in the long run you might want to be a little more descriptive.

I should get a TV, huh?

Hi Daniel:

Thanks for your post about "Boondocks." I've never seen the show, but I remember the newspaper comic from back in the day (old people -- sorry), and I wonder how alike the two media are? I was too young to know of any controversy that the comic strip might have caused (I'm not sure the N-word would have appeared in print like that), but the show definitely seems to be stirring some feelings.

Your post doesn't mention your own thoughts about the show. Is it something you enjoy? For entertainment value? For societal commentary? Do you agree that the controversies it produces are valid?

Thanks for your writing. I look forward to your thoughts.
