Brainstorming a Concept Web for My Game Idea
Here is a general layout of the six components that would construct the overall structure of my game:
Concept: Running through the ruins of a lost ancient Empire, situated within a rainforest in order to get a rescue pack to the people in need who have gotten stranded within the dangerous region (airplane crash).
Components: In order to successfully reach from one layer of the rainforest to the desired destination, you would need to watch for the following requirements: 1. need to know how to use the keyboard correctly, need to be familiar with the tabs and their uses within the game 2. need to know how to keep an eye upon all the materials or supplies found on the way, because it is crucial to win the level.
Game space: The game space would be the virtual reality itself which is, the layout of the ruins, complete with obstacles, pathways, enemies, traps, creatures etc. The realistic game space, pertaining to the player himself, would be the keyboard; he/she would be using the arrow keys, the keys pointing upwards, downwards, left and right. The spacebar would allow the virtual character to jump in order to avoid colliding with any obstacle, and the "shift" key (any shift key) would be the key that would order to the character to use his/her weapon for protection.
Rules: The concept of the game is to run through the ruins of an ancient empire, avoiding the creatures and obstacles that may kill the rescuer; in order to save the stranded people (that have plane crashed in a remote area without any food or supplies) you must navigate the virtual character through roadways, while collecting supplies and food. The rules are to simply use the controllers on the key board (left, right, down, up pointers-to move towards directions) as well as the spacebar (to command the character to jump) and when in need for protection (use the shift keys to use weapons).
Goal: The goal of the game is to get from the dangerous beginning of the ancient ruins (located in the depths of the jungle) to the end of the game destination (the area in which the people in need are waiting). The gamer must resist being attacked by animals, being trapped in quicksand, must climb on top of rocks, jump over ledges, while also collecting the necessary materials and supplies for the mission.
Core Mechanics: The player basically needs to be aware of the following: he/she must be able to navigate the virtual character correctly, while also paying attention to the surrounding forces. Using the up, down, left, right keys will allow the player to move throughout the ruins, pressing the spacebar is essential in order to jump over ledges and avoid cliffs and such, then the shift keys are pressed in order to shoot dangerous animals or creatures, ready to attack and devour you at any moment.
Choice: Each gamer is allowed to customize the character of his/her choice, has the ability to choose the weapons his/her character is equipped with, has the choice to choose the level or game mode as well.
