A brief History on longboarding.
Longboarding can trace its roots back to surfing. Bored surfers, in the 1950's, who were looking to pass time while waiting for wave conditions to improve created the longboard by taking blanks of wood and slapping skate wheels on them. They would cruise around on roads and sidewalks using some of the same techniques that they learned in surfing. Tony Alva and his group then revolutionized the sport into what it looks like today. Making the board smaller so that it could be used in pools and the sport blew up from there. The longboards of today are a flash back to the past of days where cruising was the ultimate goal.
