Building a Computer: My Personal Project
In the 10th grade, I am going to create a Personal Project in school. The project is going to be about drugs.
I decided to choose this topic as something to work with because the media constantly reports back with the youth being exposed to drugs and alcohol. I have heard constant reports about how lives were ruined because they decided to choose marijuana over schooling and education.
The things that I am planning to learn over the course of time is how much drugs Americans and other countries consume per year. Another thing I would like to learn over time for this project is why teens decide to choose drugs over anything else. The other thing I would like to know are the different types of drugs that are produced and the effects of each.
During the project I plan on making a slideshow/movie. I would like to include clips of drug trades and even the after effects of the drugs. I would also like to include how they are made, and how the youth are involved in such things. I would also like to include information about why people decide to choose drug trading instead of other normal legal jobs.
In the course if my research I have decided to stop researching about drugs. I have found out that it is the type of topic that I am not interested in. I have then decided that my new topic will be about how to make a computer. I found that to be the more interesting topic that has caught my attention. I am more into technology based projects. The book i am using as a source is called "Building a PC for Dummies" It is a book that explains every aspect of a computer and the hardware that is used to make the PC. I like this topic, and I feel that I eligible to finish this project by the tenth grade.

I think that you have a well organized plan. I was wondering if you might interview someone you did drugs at one point, and who now stoppped. Maybe this will help you make a more succesful project!

Robert i think your idea is very good, the information he show could help kids all over the world how bad drugs can be. I think that you should include some point of view situations like i know many friends that use drugs because of their parents or personal problems you should give advise on what they could do to stop.

I think this is a good topic. It's something that goes on everywhere. I think you should do a presentation of what happened to the people who took drugs and stuff and how it affected them.

I think that you should go to elemtary schools and give speeches about how bad drugs are and get a few speakers that conquered drugs and let them talk about why they took them and then why they stopped. Because every year the use of drugs is increasing and the younger kids are starting to use drugs more and more by the year.

This week I have started reading a book about drug awareness. The book is called "What Americans Need to Know About Marijuna". This book lists out different facts that are very interesting about my topic. One thing that I have learned from this book was that Americans spend atleast a billion dollars on drugs. Emphysema is more likely to happen to people smoking Marijuana then it is from a normal cigarette. I like this book a lot because it presents a lot of facts that wil be very usefulll for my personal project.

I think this interesting but how does it relate to you? This is similar to what we do in humanities and the long term effects of certain documents but you're doing this with drugs. What info is new?
The book that I have finished
The book that I have finished was very short and stated facts regarding Marijuana only. It talked a lot about different myths that people had about Marijuana. One of the myths suggested that the drug does not harm the person that uses it. It was busted after stating facts about certain cases of emergency care. It was an interesting book and I liked it. I will definately use it as a source for my personal project.

I am reading a new book. It's called Drug Legalization. It talks a lot about different drugs, and how they effected people. These problems then triggered the drugs to be illegal. It's an important and interesting book because it covers a lot of different drugs.

I really think that this is a good idea because a lot of people need to know the dangers of taking drugs. Many people are not entirely conscious of what drugs can do to the human body so this would be very informative to them of what they are using.

I think this is a good subject to do a personal project on but how does this relate to you? A personal project should be about something you care about and something that you feel a connection to. I think that drugs are interesting to learn about but why do you genuinly want to do your personal project on it?
I have decided to stop
I have decided to stop research about my topic. I have learned that learning about Drugs is not something that i am interested in. When we first had to choose a topic, I didn't give it much thought and chose a random topic to learn about. I have then understood that it is not something i like anymore. My new topic, is Building Computers. I find that very interesting, and I really am interested in computers, and how they work. It will be much more interesting then Drugs.

During the week I have read
During the week I have read little about the new topic i have chosen. So far the only thing I read during the course of the week was the advantages and disadvantages of building a computer. I have read that building a computer is more efficient then buying a brand named computer. You are in control of what parts you buy, and you choose whether your computer will be a highend computer or a regular work computer based on the hardware. Building a computer is also money saving then trying to buy brand name computers that try to get more money out of your wallet.

I'm focusing on researching everything that is needed for building a computer. That means that I want to research what each part does and the functions that is capable of doing.
