Bye Bye Birdie
I am in the Judge Memorial Catholic High School's production of Bye Bye Birdie and thought I would do some research on the show. Bye Bye Birdie tells the story of a rock and roll singer who is about to be inducted into the army. The songs in the musical include: An English Teacher, What Did I Ever See in Him?, Put on a Happy Face, One Boy, A Lot of Livin' to Do, Kids, Rosie and Spanish Rose. Bye Bye Birdie played on Broadway for 607 performances at the Martin Beck Theatre and 268 performances in London at Her Majesty's Theatre. This show has been made into an original film in 1963. In 1995 Bye Bye Birdie the play was adapted into a TV movie. Some fun facts I found about the show is as follows:
- It was nominated for 2 oscars
- Part of the storyline is based off true events
- A star from "West Side Story" turned down a part in the play
- The director of the film was also involved with a successful animation studio
The shows start on November 3 and go through November 12. The show is looking great and I encourage everyone to come see it to experience some of the happening 50's.
