BYU beats OU in defensive battle, does it really mean that much?

As the summer activities begin to wind down and kids begin to return to school, comes the kickoff of a new season. College football season. With the commencement of the season last Thursday night, there have been many upsets and suprises that have stunned the nation. All of these games that have produced upsets and many unanswered questions for some teams gives me the opportunity to raise an issue.
Last Saturday night the BYU Cougars "made history" by defeating the third ranked Oklahoma Sooners in dramatic fashion 14-13. In the second quarter of the contest, the returning Heisman winner Sam Bradford (OU's QB), was hit late after completing a pass and suffered an AC Joint injury in his shoulder. After that the momentum shifted in BYU's favor. The replacement for Sam Bradford was Redshirt Freshman quarterback, Landry Jones. With his entrance and Bradford's exit, Oklahoma played poorly on offense and BYU came out with a victory.
I'm not saying BYU wasn't athletic enough to compete with Oklahoma, I just think that people should reconsider moving them into the top ten so quickly. BYU defeated an extremely depleted OU squad that didn't have their star quarterback, but a kid who had never played a down in college football prior to Saturday night. BYU has yet to really prove themselves against strong programs. Although my skepticism might seem a bit harsh, with oppenents such as Florida State, Utah, and TCU approaching on their schedule, its a long way to the top for BYU. I predict another three loss season pushing them out of the top ten into the lower half of the top twenty five where they truly belong. BYU just doesn't have the strength of schedule to say they deserve a shot at BCS game, even IF they go undefeated.

"id just like like to see a mwc team play mizzou ou okla st and tech in a row like tx had to do last year, and if they win them all, by all means heres your bcs title game. and they were all top 10 teams, not just ranked."
