Cars of the future.

Discussion
Feb 9, 2012

Cars in the future, are (if you cant tell) going to need to be ran on alternative sources but provide the same luxery and performance that the cars today have. GM has came out with a couple ideas called the EN-V. Which is a small egg like car that rolls on two wheels, fully electric, and can hold two passengers. This isn't exactly the next ferrari super car, but hey, it gets the job done cheaply. Our ideas for future cars are mostly safety, efficiency, and self knowlege. Meaning cars that can drive themselves and cars that can park themselves. Google came out with a device that you can use to fully drive a car without actually "driving" it. This shows that we are headed towards a new generation of cars and people. They also have engineered a device that goes on the dashboard and watches the driver. It can tell when your in a bad mood and it will try to cheer you up. Ford has thought about even having the car moniter your health. As an example diabetic people, they need something to regulate glucose levels so that they don't pass out or feel sick. In my opinion I don't want cars to become self driving or health monitoring because I enjoy driving and the feeling you get from it, going fast, taking turns, racing, theres nothing quite like it. If people can sacrifice that to see the number in there bank go up.. be my guest. I will still be the guy shifting my own transmission as I regulate my own fuel pressure and flow down the track.

OK THIS IS JUST COMPLETELY OUT OF LINE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

there is no reason ANYBODY needs a car to detect their mood or their glucose level!

the things these people come up with to get money is beyond me ! i just dont understand why anybody would want that ! i also heard that they was coming out with a car that will park for u . . . .-____- this is utterly pathetic !

thanks for this post , i hope to read more of your post in the future

I am excited by your post "Cars of the Future," because of the fact that you talked about cars changing now. Also how you like to drive and race i know that feeling.

One sentence you wrote that stands out for me is "I will still be the guy shifting my own transmission as I regulate my own fuel pressure and flow down the track."

I think this is true because the cars will be tranfering in the futre.

Interesting

Dear Skylar,

Your response to the speculation about future cars is really interesting. Technology these days continues to surprise me.

One thing that I thought that was actually cool about supposedly future cars was the health monitoring. One my cousins is diabetic and she constantly has to check to make sure her blood sugar is high enough. I think it would be cool if cars had that because it would keep people safer.

I agree that the mood enhancer feature is a little over the top. But I think the main priority with cars should be safety. If these future cars are safe then I am all for it!

Thanks for your writing. I look forward to seeing what you write next!

Skylar, I thought your post

Skylar,
I thought your post about cars that drive themselves to be very interesting. I knew that the car industry was moving towards becoming even more automatic, but I didn't realize the full extent of it. I didn't know that car manufacturers are trying to create ways to monitor things about the driver, including mood and health. I also enjoy driving and I wouldn't want cars to be fully automated. There is so much modern technology today, and I think that cars don't need to advance more (even though cars are already very advanced and very modern). It seems like fully automated cars might initially cause more accidents on the road, because the car wouldn't actually have a functioning brain like humans do. Although I do appreciate cars today, and I do appreciate modern technology and the advancements that are being made in other fields (including cell phones), I wouldn't appreciate combining ultra-modern technology with cars. Like you said, it just wouldn't be the same experience if you were only sitting in a car instead of actively driving it.
I hope to see more of your writing!

Svincent13, I really enjoyed

Svincent13,
I really enjoyed your article about the advances being made in the auto industry. Your section on Google's advances in the car industry really interested me. I had no idea that this technology existed before this article. If you are interested in this topic, I suggest watching a documentary called "Who Killed the Electric Car?" The documentary explains why it took so long for auto industries to develop technology for electric cars and make them available for the public.
I look forward to reading another article from you.

Thank You,
John Kearns
