Catalyst and Speak
Speak: I really enjoyed reading speak because Laurie Anderson seems to be able to capture a true high school life. This time though she brought in an aspect that plays a very sad, horrendous part in society. The main character gets raped through the whole book tries to find herself again and be able to tell someone what happened. Rape is very common know, and happens so much so that we don’t even here about it on the news much more. “Speak,” tells you to always put out your voice and don’t always judge without knowing the truth.
Catalyst: I liked Catalyst because I too enjoy math and science and so does my sister who went through the whole thing of picking a college and not necessarily who accepted her, because they all did but how much aide and scholarship she could get. So at the beginning I could really relate to the story. The plot however really kept taking me for quite a roller coaster ride. I enjoy but it was one event after another that was pretty emotional stuff to put all in one book.
