Catholic Church and Evolution

Discussion

While it is still a bit hazy, the official teaching of the catholic church on evolution is that it does exist. They teach a modified version of evolution. “ It allows for the possibility that man’s body developed from previous biological forms, under God’s guidance, but it insists on the special creation of his soul.” source: http://www.catholic.com/library/Adam_Eve_and_Evolution.asp

To me that seems to say that the church allows for the possibility of evolution with God guiding the process. “While the Church permits belief in either special creation or developmental creation on certain questions, it in no circumstances permits belief in atheistic evolution.” http://www.catholic.com/library/Adam_Eve_and_Evolution.asp
So the official view of the church is that you can believe in evolution if you leave room for God and the soul.

I just googled my question and i looked at what cam up. Found the most credible sources and read them and answered my question that way. Also i searched more main words like evolution and the catholic church.

From google timeline I learned that the Catholic Church has become more accepting of evolution and has only recently officially stated their opinion on it. Some members of the church still hold personal opinions about evolution, but that does not reflect the official view of the Church.

Patrick, Your article caught my eye mostly due to the issue of our 2010 Cross Country shirts. The information you found makes me curious to know more about the Catholic Church's views and opinions on evolution and how it has changed over the course of time.
