Ch 3 and 4
In
the story, “Their Eyes Were Watching God” by Zora Neale Hurston, there
is new changes happening. I think that Janie made the right decision in
Chapter 4. Janie run away with a new guy named Joe and left her husband,
Logan Killicks. She was unhappy next to him and Joe was the one
treating her good. She felt like she did not love Logan, she lost the
love after some time of being married. Her decision seems to be right
because she is going for what its best for her.
I
would have done the same thing because I would eventually get tired of
being treated like I’m nothing. Janie realize that Logan was not the guy
he seem to be when they were just going out, which means that he was
been fake. If I was to find someone who treats me better and wants to
take care of me, I would probably have left. Under the circumstances I
would of probably have gone with this guy also.
In
the book we can see that Janie does not love him on page 40 where it
says, “Cause you told me Ah mus gointer love him, and Ah don’t. Maybe if
somebody was to tell me how, I could do it.” Janie doesn’t have
feelings towards her husband. If she doesn’t love him then she does not
have to be with him. Janie is not treated good by her husband, an
example is on page 43, where it says, “Aw you know Ah’m gwine chop de
wood fuh yuh. Even if you is stingy as you can be wid me. Yo’ Grandma
and me myself done spoilt yuh, now, and Ah reckon Ah have tuh keep on
wid it.” To me it seems like the husband is working her out because he
feels that he has done enough for her. He feels like has an obligation
so he rubs it on her face what he has done for her. If he was to really
love her then he would like doing anything for her and not complain
about what he is doing for her.
I
think that next, Joe and Janie will form a little village and form a
family. Maybe Logan will find out about Joe and try to look for them. I
want to read more to find out if Janie will be happy next to Joe.
