Tea Cake is the testicular region of a male swine but he’s smart and very clever with his methods of action. To be honest, there is nothing we can assume because what if the ends justify the means, we don’t know the whole story. All we see is one perspective that isn’t Tea Cake, of course if it is coming from Janie or her friend, of curse they’ll curse out his very name. But what if his mother needed medicine or something. However, he could’ve asked his wife to borrow the money though because I’m quite sure she would have lent him the money whether he’d pay it back or not, because she is just that type of person. We can assume that he used it for his own self profit, but without hearing his word, for what it’s worth, we can assume the worst or the best, but will never know, and may end up hating one who is good, or loving someone not worthy of it. Then when she said “I ain’t sending you out for fish no mo’ alone...’’ shows that her trust has been affected but her joking manner kills the seriousness of the situation and is very annoyoing because it's so very stupid. Kill the problem as it rises, not after.
