Child abuse in my family

As you probably know what im currently studying is Child abuse.  A reason why I'm probably interested in this is because I have a cousin who goes through some form of abuse at her home.  She lives in Mexico with her very crazy and stupid mom.  They use to live in the same apartment building as me when i was 4 years old and as young as i was there are somethings that i could never forget about.  I remember how my cousin use to always want to hang out in my house and play with me and when her mom came home from work she would be disapointed.  I did not know why because i love being with my mother so i thought she was mean for not liking her mother.  When they moved to mexico when i was 7 years old was the last time i saw her.

As i grew older i heard stories about my cousin and how her mother would be very jealous of her because she had a nice body and was pretty unlike her mother.  Her mother was ugly and had such a horrible personality, it amazes me that my uncle being the kind of guy that likes really attractive women noticed her and married her.  Anyway, I heard that my cousin's mother use to lock her up in a closet for an hour when she "behaved" bad.  She would get a belt and wire and hit her she was only 4 years old.  I then understood why she was the way she was. 

Now shes 14 and shes failing a lot of classes.  When she comes home from school her mother makes her clean the house cook and do evrything that her mother is too lazy to do.  She feeds her older brother who is 20 sumtin (not the son of my uncle btw).  Her mother stuffs her mouth because she wants her fat just like her.  My cousin had enough one day and when her mother hit her she hit her right back.  Her mother complained to my cousins grandpa saying how bad she was that she hit her and my grandpa told her she deserved it.  My cousins mother was so mad she just left. 

Recently my cousin had left her house and went to her boyfriends house.  Her mothers actions will lead her to do things shell regret.  Her mother dragged her back home and hit her .  My cousin has no parents because my uncle is working here in NewYork, and her mother is definitely not her mother.

The beatings stopped because my cousins mother realized that my cousin now could beat her.  Now shes just her servant.  I'm just hoping that my cousin will return to school and try her best, so she can get a good education that will eventually get her a good job in the future and she can support herself.  I also hope my cousin doesn't make a stupid decision and ends up pregnant. 

So that's why I'm writing about this subject.  Thank god my cousins situation is not as bad as other cases but it's still bad.  She does not need to go through that.
