Choosing One's Own Path

Discussion

As she looks to the future

She sees possibilities

Lawyer, Doctor, Teacher

What to choose?

She is confused about what decision to make

What to choose?

Everything is too complicated, rushing in at once

Here brain feels like it is about to explode

Then she knows

She knows that no matter what path she follows

No one can make a better decision than her

She controls her life

Her destiny

She is the wind that flows over the cool waters

She is the warm sun that glows on the plants

She is the smile that reassures others

She is the

One

Who will choose

Her own path

I really can appreciate your peoms message about self labeling and the preassure of trying to figure out what to do with you life. The part where you stop describing her feelings and humanity and then started relating her to nature makes this an amazing poem. I really loved that so much, it was very powerful and effective!

Dear Vicky:

I enjoyed reading your poem, "Choosing Ones Own Path." This poem was very nice, and I could relate it to a lot.

One sentence you wrote that stands out for me is: "She is confused about what decision to make." I think this is interesting because a lot of people have a hard time making the right choice; When they have a hard time making a choice, they end up making a bad choice. Another sentence that I liked was: "Everything is too complicated, rushing in at once." This stood out for me because it is true that if you rush things, they will start to get complex.

Your poem reminds me of my bestfriend. Every detail in this poem gave me imagery. I pictured her making choices and deciding right from wrong. She doesn’t have anyone to choose the path she should go in, so she walks in her own direction.

Thanks for your writing. I look forward to seeing what you write next, because this was very interesting and nice. I love poetry.
