I read an article on ksl about a huge drug bust and it happened here in Utah. The DEA busted some groups over the weekend including a group linked with the Mexican drug cartels. Agents found guns, ammo, and money in a house up Emigration Canyon. They also stopped a group on I-15 and found marijuana and 25 lbs of meth (allegedly worth two million dollars in street value). The article went on to talk more in depth about the bust and other recent incidents involving the DEA and drugs. I am aware that these kinds of things are going on in our world and in America, however it was shocking to see that it is hitting people here in Salt Lake. I never would’ve thought that driving up to a friend’s house in Emigration Canyon I would pass a meth factory that had tries to such a group as the Mexican cartel. I also wondered who these groups would be supplying there meth to. Who are the big meth users in Utah? It was just an eye opening reality. I can understand that people are probably growing meth in Salt Lake, but 25 lbs is a lot. That just blew me away.
