cocassion mother takes care of a colored boy
The Color of Water by James McBride: I just started reading this book and I hope that this book is going to be interesting and nice to read. This book is about a boy who never knew who his real mother was and he was a colored boy raised by a white mother. I think that it is really hard for him because he has to blend in with the other colors because he might not feel comfortable being around the people he dont even know. The white mother has raised 12 black children before and it seems like she raised her kids well.
I think The Color of Water by James McBride is interesting because this boy has to live with the different lifestyles that he has never experienced before and he might be scared because he has a white mother. I also feel really bad for him because he never saw his real mother before and he never got to meet her as well. Living with a white mother is not easy and he doesnt not know what to experience and what to expect. I hope he adopts to the family and the different lifestyles that he has to be in.
A passage from pages #1- #3 that seems important is " She was nearly blind in her left eye and walked with a sever limp, dragging her left foot behind her." I think this is sad because she has gone through so many things in her life having to deal with Hitler and the holocuast and I just feel sad that she had to go through all this and all the things that is wrong with her now and likfe she cant even walk right. She was probably tortured and I don't think that was the right thing to do.
Another part that I disliked was" She had an absolute distrust of authority and an insistence on complete privacy which seemed to make her and my family even odder. This is an example of something importnatn because she should just let the kids do whatever they want and she should be able to trust them, but also at the same time I think she cares about them and doesnt want anything to happen as well. It seems like her family is odder, but the family relationship can always grow no matter what.
This section of The Color of Water reminds me of something in the news. What happened was that their was this family who did not give their kids any rights at all and the kids ran away. They felt violated and everything that they didnt get their rights so they ran away from home. Their parents were worried and everything and wanted to come back and they did and then their family gave them their rights and the parents finally trusted them.
What's probably going to happen next is that the boy still struggles about questions that he has about his mother's skin and background and how he had been adopted. The boy's name was James and he tried to avoid any problems that went on with the family like he wasn't part of it. James tries to protect his mother because he finds out his mother is in danger and everything and also Ruth the mother knows that people are racist and prejedice, but she says that God is not one race, but all or none race.
I am looking forward to reading the rest of this book because I want to know what happens to Ruth and what kind of danger is Ruth in. James is being brave to protect his mother and it shows that he cares. Since I know that people are prejidice alot of people hate the other race and is trying to kill them. I think that is really bad and the family is trying to just avoid problems from happening.
