Cohabitation

Discussion
Feb 24, 2012

My research subject is cohabitation. So far i have gathered a plethora of research on the subject in the form of studies, articles, interviews, and surveys. Coming into my project, I believed that cohabitation before marriage should be experienced by everyone. However, I now feel that people should move in with each other, only if they feel they are ready for it. In a study I found while researching it said, "Couples that cohabit before marriage are 46% more likely to become divorced, than those who wait until marriage to live together." In my interviews, I have cheard positive arguments for both sides. I now believe that those who cohabit before marriage should do it because they want to, not because they feel forced.

It is interesting that people who cohabitate before marriage are more likely to divorce, but I don't think it is strange because living together before or after marriage will allow you to gauge how it is to live with the other person and if it sucks before marriage it would suck after marriage.

Hmm...

I would just like to point out to you Vincent, that I am really questioning why you would write about such a topic... are you considering moving in with your fiancee? If so I would like to congratulate you on your engagement and I hope you and your wife are very happy in the future.

All the Best,
