Is college for everyone?
Minorities are commonly looked down upon for being ignorant or uneducated. Ignorance is not hard to find in the lower to middle class, but how are we supposed to be college educated when education costs so much? College costs thousands of dollars and commonly leaves many graduates and dropouts in a lifetime of debt. Those who can’t afford it may get help from the government to attend college from programs such as FASFA, TAP and PEL.
Some may earn Scholarships or grants to pay off their college but not all qualify for government programs or scholarships/grants forcing students to pull out loans in order to get the education they need for their future occupation.
People in deep finiancal need have government sponsered programs like I just mentioned. And those who are financially successful have their own means to attend college. So what happendes to the middle class? we're crammed SMACK ! right in the middle.
Many middle class families make enough just to get by, exempting them from finiancial opportunities I stated earlier. Teachers, parents, mentors and even our very own peers engrave into our minds that without a college education we cannot go anywhere in life. Looking at the realities of college costs and the low graduation rate, it gets you thinking, is college for everyone?
