Connections to The Great Gatsby

On the first page of TheGreat Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald there is a quote from the narrator's father. It states, "whenever you feel like criticizing anyone just remember that all the people in this world haven't had the advantages that you've had." I can personally relate to this statement. I was born into a middle class family and therefore have had some more advantages than other kids. My parents constantly remind me of this fact. They always make sure I realize the advantages I've had and appreciate them. Because of this I've learned to not judge or be prejudice agaianst people. You need to consider all facts before you draw conclusions about someone. I enjoyed this quote very much just because I can so easily relate to it in my own life.
