Current Events: Chen Guancheng

Chen Guancheng is a lawyer. He is called the 'barefoot' lawyer, due to his work among people in rural China. He is human rights activist who was jailed due to his protests against forced abortions. Also, he's blind.
About one week ago, Hilary Clinton was in China, there to discuss issues such as Syria and Iran. And about a week ago, Chen escaped from house arrest and asked to be taken to America. After negotiations with the chineese government, it was decided that Chen would be allowed to leave China to study abroad.
America got to be a beacon of freedom (good for us), China got to look a little liberal (good for them), and Chen would be free to go (great for him). What will happen to those Chen leaves behind, however, remains to be seen.
It's been reported that his wife and a close friend have both been arrested and detained for days without food, water,or sleep.
