Day Dreamer
“Day Dreamer” is a self-portrait. This reflects me because I like the outdoors and flowers. Although dandelions are not flowers I thought that they came out very nice on a black and white camera. I had many different self-portraits on my roll of film but I ended up liking this one the best. I had to decide between this and one where I was up against a fence. I thought this represented me more because I do not feel caged up in my emotions. It has very soft lighting, which I thought complimented the dandelions and the lines of my face.
There are diagonals on my face arms and feet coming out from behind me. I like that I am not perfectly bull eyed so that the background of the picture stands out more. There are also shadows created in the picture. My arms create shadow and so do my eyes. This picture also has depth of field.
This picture was one of my harder ones to print. I had a hard time burning in the sky. I had to do it for more then 300% of the time that the rest of the photo took to print. I also had to dodge the grass and some of myself for some of the time.
I called this “Day Dreamer” because it appears that I am gazing off somewhere. Since the lighting is so soft it somewhat represents a dream too. I would hope that when people view this photo they would feel intrigued to see what I was “dreaming about, or maybe just looking at. I think that my eyes create a powerful lead line. Although you can’t see the diagonal, it is there.

I like how you are not
I like how you are not directly looking at the camera. The photo looks very natural, calm, and gentle. Great job!
