My current event is about Amy Winehouse. I remember hearing about her death awhile and the shockwaves it sent through the hearts and her fellow performers and her fans.
In July 2011, Amy Winehouse died. It was sad, but not a shock. Her demise into drugs and alcohol overpowered her talent and her life. She is known to be an incredibly soulful and inspiring performer. Her throwback to the 60's hairstyle and retro music inspired a generation to embrace the past. When the world heard about her death, the response was overwhelmingly sad, not just because of the loss of this incredible talent, but because of the way she died. Many celebrities on twitter responded with grief calling Winehouse a "loss soul" (Lily Allen) and Josh Groban wrote: “Drugs took her gift, her soul, her light, long before they took her life. RIP Amy.”
While this is sad, I hope that throughout this past year, it has inspired people to change. Drugs are not substances to play around with, they truly sap away your life. Winehouse is an example of this.
