I am a Jewish student at a Catholic high school. Initially, my goals were to earn decent grades in religion and avoid embarrassing myself in Mass. Four years later, I am member of Peer Ministry, a group that supports students’ spiritual needs. I was selected for this leadership opportunity because I respect all beliefs. I’ve learned that by grappling to understand others’ beliefs, my own beliefs gain clarity and strength, and that when respect is offered to others, it is returned.
