Do Comedy Central Roasts go too far?

Discussion
Nov 29, 2011

When I found out that Patrice O'Neal died, the first thing I thought of was Comedy Central's Roast of Charlie Sheen. Roasters took turns dishing it out to everyone and Patrice's diabetes was the main assault on him. I never realized he actually did have diabetes until his death today. It makes me wonder if there is a line that should be drawn during these roasts. This isn't the first time that topics like death have been brought up during roasts. The death of Steve-O's best friend Ryan Dunn was joked about and so was Greg Giraldo's during the Roast of Donald Trump.
In my opinion, these Roasts are meant to be as offensive as possible, so anything is fair game. If you walk into one of these roasts prepare for some low blows. Jokes like these outside the roast aren't appropriate, but once you agree to one of these things that line between funny and mean disappears.

Comedy Roast

I remember the Donald Trump Roast and it wasn't funny at all. I felt like they went through extra measures for NO reason. I don't even know why they had the guy from Jersey Shore there -_- he's not a comedian. Some Comedy Roast were very funny like the one for Joan Rivers. But yes i agree they do dish out low blows but only because they have nothing else to say and probably didn't come prepared.

Yeah the guy from Jersey

Yeah the guy from Jersey Shore totally bombed. That might have been the worst roast I have ever seen.
