Does it serve more use?
I've been continuing to read their eyes are watching god, and as i'm reading it, although I hate the rhetoric of the book, it gives a lot of details about what actually happens in the story. we see her meet a guy named joe starks while her husband is away and she begins to flirt with him and after meeting him a couple of times in secret away from her husband she evenetually decides that she will be more happy if she leaves her husband behind.
this part in the book is very important because it goes against what the authors opinion of what men and women should do. looking back to the beginning we can see that the author feels that the average woman is not a dreamer. This book is constantly reminding you than janie is far from what other women are and cannot be grouped in with them
