Red scarf girl by ji li jiang is about a girl named ji-li a 5-6th grader (a student that is about to go to middle school) who has to live during the cultural revolution.  Her dream was to be in a elite middle school so that she can go to a elite high school and then go to a really good college.  However because of the cultural revolution and the Mao taking over it become almost impossible.

I feel sorry for ji-li because can't get in to the middle school that she wants. An example of what I mean is on page 60-80.   I think that must "suck" because of the fact that she has almost or even no chance get in to the middle school she wents.

Something interesting happens on page 77 where it says: ""we got a new directive from the city all students will be assigned to schools by their residential districts." This is a important point in the plot because this can change everything.  If she doesn't get the right education then she wont get into a great high school, and the chain reaction occurs.  How ever this is also a good thing.  You dont need to freak out on education at grade school. When you get to middle school then you should get your act together.

This theme in Red Scarf Girl reminds me of something important in my life. For me I never had a chance to chose which high school that i should go to.  Then again I didn't really care about middle schools during that time.  All I remember was going to after schools and weekend schools, and envying other students of what they had.  I think that she should lossen up a bit,  however this was during a time when Mao was takeing over so I dont think it'll be easy to lossen up.

I am looking forward to reading the rest of this book because somehow the book catches my interset. What's probably going to happen next is Ji-li is problably going to be in big problem or something during the vacation.
