The Earthquake and Tsunami in Japan Changing People’s Life Forever

Based on what I have read so far in Quake Stories about the earthquake and tsunami in Japan that had occurred recently, it is easy to see that the tsunami had changed many people’s life. Many things in Japan is very different now. Based on what the kids from a few schools in Japan say about their experience with the tsunami, it might have not hurt them much, but it was a big surprise to them and very frightening. Also, the way they describe the destruction in Japan, it is very easy to see that the earthquake and tsunami had affected Japan a lot.

A student named  Marianne Riley from The American School in Japan said “Japan is never going to be the same again”  http://quakestories.wikispaces.com/American+School+in+Japan.This quote tells me that not only has the student been affected a lot by the quake and tsunami, but knows that the destruction it had left behind will change Japan forever. The student then describes a few moments after the quake and tsunami. From the moments that the student describes, I can see that everything is difficult now. Transportation by car is almost impossible because there are big traffics, gas is expensive and rare. Also, since lots of house, stores and supermarkets has been destroyed, the supermarkets that were not destroyed are usually the very small ones so it gets really crowded and barely any good food is left. People wait in lines for hours just to get inside the store. When they get inside the good food is usually all cleared out.

The quake and tsunami had destroyed many nuclear plants. There is very less electricity in Japan now. People try to save energy and with the powers down the great places in Japan are mostly dark like the lights at the famous Shibuya. Less electricity causes the stores to  close earlier, it is mostly dark in houses and in business offices. The quake and tsunami left a great destruction in Japan and affects the citizens there in many ways. Is there any thing we, people outside of Japan can do anything to help?
