Earthquake and Tsunami
Recently in English class we’ve been studying about the crisis of Japan earthquake and tsunami. At first I thought it was not s big issue. I thought Japan is an advance nation, and they will fight out the this earthquake and tsunami. When I read an wikipedia article, “ 2011 Sendai earthquake and tsunami”, I was really shocked by the number of people died and missing or injured. Thousands of people are dead and couldn’t find fight the disaster. I started thinking because I realized that Japan has nuclear weapons. First I thought that they wold get over it since its in a small village and won’t affect much. But if you see it now, its affecting very much. After doing this study, I realize that it doesn’t matter how ready Japan is for a war, but they were not prepare for this war with natural disasters.
I did some research on the nuclear radiation and how bad it has gone. I came across this one article: “Japan cites radiation in milk, spinach near plant," (By SHINO YUASA and ERIC TALMADGE, Associated Press – Sat Mar 19, 4:52 pm ET). This article provided a lot of information on the nuclear radiation. Some people felt that nuclear radiation were just going to affect people and that’s all. But according to this article, it has gone into food and milk. “FUKUSHIMA, Japan – In the first sign that contamination from Japan's stricken nuclear complex had seeped into the food chain, officials said Saturday that radiation levels in spinach and milk from farms near the tsunami-crippled facility exceeded government safety limits.” This quote didn’t really surprise all that much, but it did make me feel upset. The radiation is out of control, its food and milk and who knows tomorrow its going to b in water too. How will these people survive? Imagine what will happen to those littler kids who wants milk?
In another source that I looked at, “Workers briefly abandon Japan plant after radiation surge," (Published on Wed, Mar 16, 2011 at 10:05 Source : Reuters) there was this one statement that made me node my head in agreement with the writer. It was: “ Japan's chief government spokesman said it was "not realistic" to think the Daiichi nuclear plant in Fukushima, 240 kms (150 miles) north of Tokyo, would reach the start of a nuclear chain reaction, but said officials were talking to the US military about possible help.” This is so true, this crisis that Japan is witnessing is unrealistic. I mean no one ever imagined Japan being in this type of crisis. Like I believe, 2011 is not so peaceful year after all.
All of this makes me think that is 2012 really going to be end of the world? I mean this year really scary. I mean this Japan crisis has scared every human being in the world. Let’s see what other surprises we going to face/notice in this year of 2011.
