Recently in English we've been studying about the earthquake that happened in Haiti about a week ago. At first, I thought that it was going to be a pointless class study because there are many earthquakes around the world and why focus on one only?.When I saw thee clip of democracy now.com it was very shocking what I was seeing, there were people dead in the streets just covered wit white sheets. I know that many people I have spoken to feel like the Haitians are being lazy because instead of weeping over what happen they should start cleaning up all the tings that were destroyed, I think that its a very unnecessary comment  because the don't know what these people have gone through and the suffrage they have or how they live in fear because of the aftershocks that are occurring to them its very said and shocking.

One thing that I know for sure about Earthquakes in Haiti is that they don't have enough supplies for people that have been hurt to cure them or to keep them alive which is a very sad thing to hear. I have been looking up in every kind of different websites to see what goes on there everyday. Its very concerning because reading and listening on how people have no food or water and how others have to get amputations with out any medical substances to relief their pain. Its funny to me how people could have their negative opinions of this country and of the people when they don't even know what they are going through losing family members and their homes.

I did some research on the topic about the earthquake that went on in Haiti and I came across a article "Haiti relocating homeless, port repairs needed" the quote that most caught my attention was "The goal is to halt the spread of disease at hundreds of impromptu settlements that have no water and no place for sewage. Homeless families have erected tarps and tents, cardboard and scrap as shelter from the sun" I think this is a great example of how bad things are over there and reasons why we should help. The article said how they are trying to stop the spread of disease going because thousands of people are dieing because of this. It upsets me greatly because I feel useless not being able to help anybody in any way of form. this is the link to the article I read:http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/cb_haiti_earthquake.

In another source that I looked at,"The big picture" it is a website where they show pictures of people that have been injured and pictures of corps laying in between the fallen buildings and houses one photo that caught my attention the most was the one that had this quote in it,"This photo provided by Carel Pedre shows people running past rubble of a damaged building in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010. The largest earthquake ever recorded in the area shook Haiti on Tuesday, collapsing a hospital where people screamed for help. (AP Photo/Carel Pedre) #". This picture was very sad and powerful it speaks more than words. Here is the link were other pictures are displayed:http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2010/01/earthquake_in_haiti.html.

All of this makes me think that I should be grateful for all the good things that I have and grateful for life and for not going through the things that Haitians are going through. Things happen for a reason many people say that the country was punished by god because many Haitians practice voodoo and it relates to much with the devil I wouldn't say that because I would never wish them anything bad specially knowing many people here that had family there and have gotten the sad message that many of their family members are dead or missing.

The Image above shows is show ing how there are people that want to help out the haitians and are coming from different parts of the world to make a difference for the Hiatians, In this image you can also see how severe the injuries that the people have are. Its a very strong image and its very symbolic. This image makes me think of many things, one thing that I think is very strong with in this image is where you see how worried the doctors are and how they feel good to be helping others in the situation that they are in.
