I’ve learned a little something about whats going on in Egypt last period in Economics class, but I’m still not too sure about things. I want to learn more about this issue, because its very interesting. What I don’t understand is why after 30 years do they want to now start protesting? The way their president has been treating them isn’t knew to them. So why protest now? Shouldn’t they be used to the way he governs? I’ve never paid attention to issues in other parts of the world, so I don’t know Murabak. I really think I should pay more attention to the news. I also have a lot of questions, that I would like to be answered.
One thing I know for sure about the Egyptian Protest is that the people are protesting against their president. The people of Egypt find their president to be very unfair in the way he governs the country. I haven’t really paid much attention U.S History, so I cant really compare this protest to any other country in the world. Although I’m sure this has happened somewhere in the world before. Personally, Its funny to me how this captures our attention. I’m not really all that interested in learning about things that happen or has happened in other countries being that I don’t live there. I do realize now, that these things can somehow effect my country later on in life.
I did some research on The Egyptian Protest. I came across this one article: TNA The New Age. This article provided a lot of information and opinions on The Egyptian Protest. Some people felt that the protest was going to happen whether or not Tunisia influenced the Egyptians. “It was a ticking bomb, and it was bound to explode,” political analyst Hisham Kassem told AFP of the situation in Egypt. This statement explains that the Egyptians really didn’t need Tunisia to influence them to begin a protest.
In another source that I looked at, BBC News, there was this one statement that made me nod my head in agreement with the writer. The statement was:” Mr. Obama said he told Mr. Mubarak to respect the rights of the Egyptian people and refrain from using violence against peaceful protesters - but he said the protesters also had a responsibility to express themselves peacefully.” After reading this I think Obama might get involved with the protest and try to help out in anyway he can. This shows me that Obama cares and wants to stop all of the problems that exist in the world, whether its in our country or not.
All of this makes me think that the protest going on in Egypt is very serious. When it was first mentioned to me I didn’t think much of it until now.
