The end of the internet as we know it?

Recently a new story has been floating around the web, and national news that the internet as we know it could be gone. The United States government is now rushing to pass the Protect IP act. The act is basically a attempt to stop internet piracy. But, this could crush the internet all together. Sites like playlist.com, and youtube.com could potentially become obsolete. Let's be honest here we have all been guilty of listening to a leaked song, or a cool remix on youtube at one time or another. But if this act were to be passed the government would basically have complete control over what we view and listen to on the internet. Supposedly they would use the same software that China uses. China is notorious for censoring their news, internet, and media. This i believe is an attack both on our privacy, and creativity. I really hope this act is declined for if it isn''t the internet could become a very different place for the worse.
