" Montag had only an instant to read a line, but it blazed as if stamped there with fiery steel"(Bradbury 82).

This quote is relevant to the idea of the book. The book shows a dystopia and a complete different lifestyle than our own. The idea of reading being wrong is very backward and different than what we grew up learning about books in our world. We respect books because they give us knowledge, and knowledge is power. In the world in the book, books are a big no no. The idea of ignorance was key to survival which is what the government tried to portray with the extinguishing of all books. The more you knew, the more of a threat you were to everyone around you.

Fahrenheit 451 is one of my favorite books! I liked it so much that I decided that to use it for one of my essays when I took the A.P. test even though I wasn't completely sure, at the time, if it was comparable to Moby Dick, or The Great Gatsby, or other books more commonly analysed for that test. I enjoyed this quotation and the way you interpreted it because I agree that we all need to be knowledgeable and educate ourselves so we can run society- not allow it to run us. I hope to read more from you, 15JoshuaN.
