Family Trees

You know that moment when you are talking to someone at a family event and can't for the life of you remember how you are related? At that moment, don't you wish you had a handy family tree to pull out of your pocket or look up on your smart phone? Well luckily I have my mother.

My mom has mastered the skill of remembering names and useful facts about even the most remote relatives. Apparently my father's sister's husband's mother, Margarite, sold tupperware to send her kids to college and fill their houses with furniture. My grandpa's sister's grandson, Alex, is a junior in high school and wants to go to Oregon for college. These helpful facts made this past weekend at my cousin's bar mitzvah much more bearable and provided for a number of interesting conversations. I only hope that I will inherit this skill from my mother and not have to depend on her forever...
