Feelings on QuakeStories

I was surprised by Thomas, “Untitled”, on quakestories because it was really unusual and a scary experience for him. He didn’t know what was going on until the ground began to shake.

One
sentence that Thomas wrote that stands out for me is: “We went under
the tables and Mr. Stanworth on the intercom telling everyone to stay
calm and be quiet. I was next to a big window from which I could see
lots of smoke and a helicopter.” This shows how terrified Thomas felt
towards the earthquake. The class was directed to hide under the tables
and for everyone to stay calm and quiet. I think this was powerful
because of the fact of the images that Thomas saw. He saw lots of smoke
and a helicopter flying in the sky. It was a very expressive piece. He
didn’t know what to do, but to hide under the table until the earthquake
ended.

Another
sentence that stands out is, “I went to my house the next day and I was
surprised that nothing broke. There are still lots of after shocks even
three weeks later.” There’s something about Thomas voice that felt
relieved that none of the stuff in his house broke, but he was still in
shock. No one knew the earthquake was going to occur, it just happened.

I
do agree with Thomas that he was shocked. One reason I say this is
because I would be in shock too. Everyone was to stay quiet and calm
because if they didn’t and everyone started to panic, things would have
gotten worse.

Thanks
for writing. I look forward to seeing what your write next because if I
was in your position I would be really scared as well. I am happy that
you guys are safe and nothing really happened to the school.
