The Giver by Lois Lowry: Jonas freedom about all his consequences becomes clearer to him and that his choices for himself is different. Jonas also recognizes the different actions he has made and learned how to eliminate his choices and Jonas finally sees the disadvantages and advantages as well. He decides that one important thing in life is choice and people with choice needs to accept many different actions and consequences and that will make them happier. I think that Jonas is becoming a better person and he is trying to learn about all the things that he is doing wrong.

I think The Giver, by Mark Haddon is weird because Jonas goes through many things with the Giver and I also think that Jonas needs to learn his lesson. I was also thinking about how Jonas can see colors now when before he was color blind and couldn't see anything. It just magically appeared out of no where. I wonder if Jonas really learned from his consequences and if he accepts his different actions as well.

A passage from pages #165 - #166 that seems important is: "He knew that he had the remaining hours of night before would be aware of his escape. So he rode hard steadily willing himself to tire as the minutes miles passed. There had been no time to recieve the memories he and the Giver hard counted on strength and courage." I think this is risky because I think Jonas can get in a lot of trouble by his dad for leaving the dwelling and why would he try to escape with The Giver. Even though they are counting on strength and courage which is a good thing, Jonas is violationg the rules.

Another part that I enjoyed was: "And the weather was changing. It rained for two days. Jonas has never seen rain though he had experience it often in the memories. He had liked those rains and enjoyed the new feeling of it, but this was different, he actually got wet." This is an example of something important in this book. It shows that Jonas is experiencing something for real and something new that never happened to him and I think that is a really good thing. Rain is a good thing to experience since he experienced so many things only in his memories.

This section of The Giver reminds me of something that happened to me. One time I remembered it was my first time experiencing snow. There was one time I never saw snow before until the first day it started snowing when I was a little kid and it was a great experience and I loved it. Snow is so much fun to play in and I want it to snow again!!, so I can go out and play in the snow.

P.S. I finished reading this book.
