One: I'm learning more about first impressions and in particular what I'm wondering about is: does first impressions always matter? No, is the answer, first impressions dont really matter unless it comes to some certain occasions. You cant going to a wedding dressing like jeans and stuff, you have to dress casual so everyone would know that you actually care about it and stuff. Also when you are applying for a job, your first impressions matter to the boss that is going to hire you. The boss is not going to hire you if you dont look responsible or ready for the job at all.  I was researching this question online and this article caught my attention because it was about how when you are going for a job, it is based on first impressions. Now this is the case when that is true. The title is First Impressions count and something I saw in the summary was THERE are good ways and bad ways to go about getting a new job, and some basic rules apply, a senior figure in the recruitment industry says. It is said 60 per cent of hiring decisions are made in the first minute of an interview and it's called the "glare factor". This sparked my interest because there are always good and bag things that is going to happen when you are applying for the job and you just have to look for the best to happen. Before you go into an interview or something, you have to make up your mind already about what you are going to say.

"If you work in a bank and someone walks in well- presented, wearing a navy suit and a white business shirt, instantly there's a synergy, he says. You think, this person will fit in well with my team. "It's about glare; the wrong fit. It's a natural human reaction. So you have to dress and present accordingly, with energy and enthusiasm for that first minute of the interview to set the tone. He describes it as catch-up. "Once you're behind, you haven't got the job."

Two: The quote I chose here is basically saying that when you work somewhere professional or something you should present yourself well to the people like wearing a suit and everything and nothing sloppy. Also when you dont wear the right stuff to somewhere that you are going to work, everyone is going to stare at you. You have to have the energy and you always have to be prepared to work. You cant slack off at work and it is dedication. You have to show your a good first impression on the boss.
Three: I think this is influencing because It makes me wonder about what I should do in the future as well. When I go get a job and stuff I need to show a good first impression so I can get that job. I need to be hardworking and willing to work everyday. I dont want people to stare at me when I do not show up with the right clothing as well. You have to show that you are willing to want this job so that the boss will hire you.

One: Im learning more about first impressions right now and in particular what I'm wondering about is: what do you do when you meet someone new and you want to show them the best impression? I was researching this question online and this video post caught my attention because it seemed something really interesting. It was talking about the different things that you do when it comes to first impressions and I just wanted to figure out what it really was and what those steps were as well. The title is How Can I make a Good First Impression? Something that I saw was how the women was speaking in the video, she tried to make a good first impression to the watchers as well. I liked this specific source because it was a video. It was much better and more understanding.

  1. Step 1: Make an entrance

  2. Take a few moments before you walk in to a room and realign your posture. Bring your shoulders back and down and put a smile on your face. Scan the room and look around as this will make you look a lot more positive and thus creates a good first impression.

  3. Step 2: Your handshake

  4. Make sure you give a good, cool and firm handshake. Look the person in the eye and remember to smile at them.

  5. Step 3: Posture

  6. Practice sitting down in front of a mirror, in the outfit you will be wearing, to see what is going to work and what isn't. Sit well in the chair as this will make you look more confident. Rest your elbows on the arm of the chair and maybe cross your legs.

  7. Step 4: Hand gestures

  8. Make sure you don't use barriers such as folding your arms as this will make you look too closed. Use nice open gestures and good emphatic gestures when you speak, and make sure you keep your hands below shoulder height.

  9. Step 5: Mirroring

  10. Use mirroring to create fast-track rapport. This is achieved by slightly copying the interviewer's body language which will help you come across as more approachable.

  11. Two: The quote I chose here is basically saying that there are different steps to making a good impression on someone you meet or when you are going somewhere. There are many different steps when you are going through a first impression depending on either if you are going to someone's house or even an interview. There are different things that people tend to look for. When you are nervous, always try to stay calm and everything and relax, dont raise your hands so high meaning that you are showing a gesture that you are nervous. These steps to me are important when it comes to certain circumstances.

  12. Three: I think this is interesting because It makes me wonder about myself and maybe I should try to change the way I act towards people sometimes. At time I get really nervous and I dont even know what to do. When I am shy around a person or something or when I havent seen my relatives for a really long time I tend to put my head down and I guess that is not respectuful? So I have to change that habit.

Dear ctai,

I am excited to find your post ,"First Impressions Hurts People's Feelings", because this is one of the first posts that I found that are actually related to what I'm looking for.

One sentence you wrote that stands out to me is: "You cant going to a wedding dressing like jeans and stuff, you have to dress casual so everyone would know that you actually care about it and stuff." I think its a good statement because I've been to a wedding and there were a couple people there in jeans and a polo and my first thoughts of them weren't the best thoughts.

Thanks for your writing. I look forward to seeing what you write next, because I would just like to see what else you could come up with on your next blog.
