Food is a sign of joy. What can anyone do without food? In the world, there are many varieties of food that we can eat. Foods are made by different cultures with different tastes and texture. Many people only eat the food from their own culture because they think that other foods don’t taste as good. People need to explore and try new things. Always try new things and experience things that we have never tried before. Without experience where are you going to stand? In life, if you do not try new things you wouldn’t be able to realize what the true meaning of life is.

Throughout my life, I have been hanging out with my friends whenever I had the time to. Friends are always there for you whenever you need them and they will always have your back. My life revolves around my friends. Whenever something happens, they are always there. Spending times with your friends can be a fun time to get away from your family for a while if family problems get bad. My friends and I went on a camping trip. In order for us to get there we needed one of our friend’s parents to drive us so one of the parents did. We went out a trailer and our friend’s parent drove us upstate. It was a long ride so in the trailer my friends and I sang songs, played games and just fooled around to kill time. It was really loud in the trailer. I didn’t really know if other cars outside could have heard us from all the noise that we were creating. We stopped for food since we were hungry. We ordered a bunch of food that we ourselves couldn’t finish. We were now bloated with only a couple of hours left for us to go. We were tired, so my friends took naps before we got there while I just stared outside the window imagining what is going to happen and how much fun I am going to have.

By the time we arrived there, it was night time so we couldn’t do much as we wanted. We got out of the trailer and everyone of us helped collect firewood to create a fire for us to create hot marsh mellows with chocolate with crackers. (smores) It was hard work collecting all the firewood, but it was worth it. It took a long while to get the fire up, but we managed to create a fire to make marsh mellows and to keep us warm. After eating the delicious food that we had, everyone help to built up tents. Lying in the tents wasn’t as comfortable as I thought, since we had to sleep on futons, but it was most certainly fun with all our friends just making jokes about one another. All night in our tents, we just sang music and told each other scary stories as well. As we tell each other stories, some people got scared and some even fell asleep through to all the work that we have done. Sooner or later everyone began to fall asleep. While I was falling asleep, I heard different noises coming from the woods. It was scary not knowing what that certain animal might be, but I had to think positively. Listening to the nature of birds chirping and owls hooting really caught my attention. I was shivering from being cold so I just bundled up myself and blowing my hands to keep myself warm. I couldn’t really sleep just imagining all the fun that we are going to have the next morning.

The next morning came and everyone began to wake up due to a loud alarm. As everyone woke up we started to smell the delicious food and wondered where it was coming from. We walked out of our tents to see our friend’s mom cooking for us since she knew that we were going to be extremely hungry. She was making steak, hot dogs, and hamburgers. To realize how the yummy the food tasted, we just wanted to chow it all down. We couldn’t wait any longer. As soon as the food was done everyone just stared boasting towards it. I was the last one to get my food since everyone already started rushing. I was the only patient one. Many birds were surrounding us looking at the food. I knew that they were hungry so I fed them some of the bread from my hot dog. Nature is life and without it, the world wouldn’t be what it is today. After I finished my first, I went to grab for seconds. Not knowing their was hot burning coal on the floor, I accidentally stepped on it. The hot burning coal burned through my sock and left a mark on the back of my foot. The back of my foot now was all red and swollen up. I can’t even tell you how much pain I felt on that day, I was holding the pain inside not trying to scream.

Everyone started asking me what has happened to me and if I was okay. I told them I was and I told them that it was going to be fine, but they didn’t really believe me. They felt really bad for me because they didn’t know how it felt like stepping on the hot coal. My friend’s mom was helping me bandage my foot up and putting medicine on it as well. All day long I was walking with a limp and with each and every limp, it started to hurt more and more. All of the fun that we began to have made me forget about how much pain I was in. My friends were always there for me when I needed their help.

By night we started to wrap everything up and folded our tents to be put back into the trailer. We were getting ready to head back home. I didn’t really want to head back home due to all the fun that I had. My friends are like my family to me. If I needed a place to stay they would invite me in. When we all started heading back into the trailer, most of us fell asleep. Most of the ride was filled with silence. I was just listening to my IPOD and the pain started to come back. I couldn't imagine how much fun that I had with my friends, who are considered my family.

Dear Andy,

Your post, “ The food and fun that I had made me forget about my pain” was very interesting. I was so delighted by the way you express yourself about your friends. It looks like you have very good friends and that you appreciate them. This story was nice and it surrounded the meaning of friendship as well as how important food is for you.

I found it funny how food was very important and you and your friends were very hungry. Something that caught my attention was: “Many people only eat the food from their own culture because they think that other foods don’t taste as good. People need to explore and try new things.” This is true but honestly I am one of those person’s that only eat a certain food. It’s as if I’m scared of food. I’m scared that I will not like the food but you are right I should try it before saying it wouldn’t taste good.

You seem to be very close to our friends. In the story you mentioned that, “I couldn't imagine how much fun that I had with my friends, who are considered my family.” This makes me think that you have a good relationship with your friends. I totally understand what you mean when you say this. Friends are like family sometimes. I am glad your friends where there when your foot got injured. It was nice that you had so much fun and forgot about the pain.

I am looking forward to reading more about you because you seem like a very nice person. You write a lot about interest things that I agree with.
